The BDF swap body
There are many different kinds of constructions, so called BDF swap bodies. The possibilities are many. Even coil troughs, silo and tank constructions are no difficulty. The BDF swap bodies have four supporting legs which provide a safe stand. Hereby swap body systems are normally not stackable. To accommodate the swap body the bellows of the pneumatic suspension at the vehicle are vented.
In this condition the truck can easily underride the swap body and can accommodate the swap body again through lifting the bellows.
The BDF swap body is connected with the transportation truck through the swap body frame. The common used chassis in past times were displaced through the BDF chassis in modular design. They were invented from the SDG Modultechnik GmbH company. On this modular swap body chassis with its supporting arms the twistlocks or container locks (also called mushrooms) are made for a secure connection between truck and swap construction.
